As we commemorate and celebrate the 350th anniversary of St. Kateri’s baptism right here in New York, I have started this page. I’m still forming the idea behind it, but I thought that it would be a welcome addition as I continue writing my book about her life and her shrines that currently abide where she spent her life.
I hope to have a better understanding of what I want to accomplish here before next week’s feast day weekend and annual celebration.

Recently, I spent a couple of hours braiding sweetgrass in anticipation of the upcoming St. Kateri Tekakwitha feast day celebration happening at the shrine in July (on the 18th & 19th in 2026). I could smell the sweetgrass as soon as I walked into the room. The atmosphere was like an old-fashioned quilting bee. I can’t wait to be asked back to do it again.
On the Saturday of the feast day will be a program on sweetgrass. Look on my website for more information in the upcoming days.
