As I mengtioned on Thursday, May is Mental Health Awareness Month. There’s also May Day, and May the Fourth, and Cinco de Mayo. Plus college graduations, Memorial Day, and the “official” start of summer.
Today is three spcial days that should be acknowleged and observed, each with their own reverences.
Free Comic Book Day

We’ve already visited three stores, one of which just recently opened. They have costumed characters: we’ve seen Batgirl, Spider-Man, and Catwoman. We’ve entered raffles and have already won a poster, bracelet, extra comics, and other assorted goodies.
World Labyrinth Day
The rain kept me away from the planned labyrinth, but luckily I have aq finger one that I carry. I also have a drawn one in my sketchbook that I can follow with my finger or a pen.
I was privileged to be able to have walked one this past week, which gave me a reflective, comforting, spiritual experience which I am grateful for.

Press Freedom Day
Freedom of the press is something we’ve let fall on the wayside. I was saying the other day that there are no more Woodward & Bernsteins. In fact, even Woodward isn’t Woodward & Bernstein these days.
It’s unfortunate. And sad.
That’s why I was so excited by the integrity and bravery of The Atlantic‘s Jeffrey Goldberg that l immediately subscribed to the Atlantic for the entire year. I’d suggest you do the same.
There are politicians in Congress trying to pass laws rescinding shield laws for the press who protect their sources’ identities. In many cases, those sources are afraid of retribution for their truth-telling. It’s important to let the press do their jobs of journalism instead of causing them to bow down to fascists by turning facts into opinions and forgetting their role as a quasi-4th branch of government. While they are not, and should not be part of government or controlled by government, they have always been an important check on the abuse of power from those in authority.
This must continue.
Pick one to celebrate or participate in all three!
