Everyone online has all the answers, don’t they? Our current president certainly thinks he does. And the “journalists” flocking to twist and pretzel themselves into sycophants for him is truly astonishing, a little disheartening, and a lot disgusting that in my lifetime we’ve gone from Woodward & Bernstein, Ben Bradlee, Katherine Graham to Jake Tapper and Hamas terrorists. That’s not to say W&B were perfect; no one is, but the hit job Tapper did on President Biden while ignoring the dwindling mental capacity of the current occupant of the White House is not only repulsive, but journalistic malpractice. And don’t think I forgot about you Pod Bros, a big fuck you to you.

But…this isn’t about my grievances against the “fourth estate”. Republicans and far-left “progressives” are equally responsible for this shitshow. Ratings and money. That’s all that matters to these cult members.

I don’t have the spoons or the bandwidth, whatever today’s term is to even contemplate what’s going on in Washington, D.C.. We’ve been watching this happen in real time for nearly a decade. January 6th should have been the tipping point; we should have seen the frog in the water, but we didn’t. We need to compromise. People are upset, angry, frustrated. You know what? Me fucking too! I managed not to storm the Capitol and violate my oath of office. I managed not to dismiss decency and common sense. I was able to see fascists, not when they were hiding but when they told us repeatedly who they are and what they will do when they get power. Their blame game is strong. Immigrants. Women. Children on SNAP and in Head Start. Those are the enemies, right? That four-year-old getting a birthday cake – they’re the enemy, right? That woman buying tampons or taking a sick day. She’s the enemy. The bodily functions of strangers? Their haircuts – don’t look too feminine. Or too masculine. Or androgynous.

It tells you how much is fucked up in this country and in the world, but this is what it is, and this is what we have to deal with because some people in this country couldn’t vote for a Black woman. But I’m getting away from my reason for being here.

What actually brought me to the keyboard today was the never-ending bombardment of people who I thought were allies showing their true colors. As a Jewish person, I and my community have stood for all marginalized groups even when I personally didn’t understand an issue. I continued to support. I continued to speak out. In my little corner of the world, I spoke up and out; I taught and clarified, explained and offered sources and education, from big to small ways, and now, at this moment in time, I fear for my kids. When they travel, I’m telling them to hide who they are: both American and Jewish. Nothing visible. Head on swivel. Don’t keep your head in your phone; one ear bud out; don’t speak loud. How long can I protect them?

How do people not see what is really happening in Gaza? How do people look at the same photos that I see of chronic illness being portrayed as malnutrition? The lies. The behind-the-scenes of posing with empty pots against a fence? The obvious AI? How many fingers does a Gazan have on one hand? How many times can this one person be killed?

How do people see Israel – the VICTIM – as the one blocking humanitarian aid, but not Egypt with their huge barb-wired wall? How do people cry for Al-Jazeera “journalists” being targeted when they are TERRORISTS, when their social media calls out for Israel’s demise, extinction, and cheered 10/7 the same way the same people cheered 9/11? Why is Israel to blame? Why don’t they see what’s happening in Sudan? Syria? To the Druze? Why do we allow them to redefine genocide where there is no genocide?! I saw a graphic that said: Kibbutz Nir Oz, population on 10/7/23: 490, population on 10/8/23: 190. That is a genocide. People burned alive. Beheaded. Jewish women raped, alive or dead, didn’t matter. “Resistance.” Jewish babies strangled, not by Hamas, but by Gazans. “Justified.” Doctors holding hostages. Hospitals and schools as military bases. Fuck you. Fuck all of you.

I see “progressives” mourning over a dead dog in Minnesota, and cheering babies being strangled because they’re Jewish.

Taking our trauma and using it against us, co-opting it, fucking psychos!

I will never forget.

I will never forgive.
