I am supposed to be here: at Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada.

(c)2025
Unfortunately, after cancelling our vacation, I am here:

Recuperating and recovering from a torn achilles tendon. I had surgery about a week and two days ago, and honestly, so far, it has gone really well. Pain is much better than I expected. My husband has been taking good care of me, helping me with all of my needs, even the less pleasant ones, making sure that I’m fed and watered, comfortable sleeping, and still working his full time job. We are very lucky that he works from home and can still do all of this.
We (and by “we” I mean my husband) moved a bed downstairs so everything I need is on the first floor. The physical therapist at the hospital showed us how to get into our house (4 steps on a porch to the front door) with a wheelchair, and I don’t plan on leaving until my doctor’s appointment next week.
Pretty flowers that my husband’s former boss sent to me. She is a wonderful human being. We miss having her around every day, but she is here in spirit and beautiful flowers.

My final picture is of my “prison wall countdown calendar.” I am counting down to my first post-op doctor’s appointment when hopefully they will tell me that I’ve healed well and can be put into a cast which will ease some of the burden on me and my family. With a cast, I’ll be able to walk, although probably not drive; I may be able to go back to work part-time or from home part-time, and keep healing until the cast comes off and I can start physical therapy.

Any and all prayers are welcome. I hope to continue with some writing and catch up on my book’s first draft before my upcoming retreat.
Until then, be well.
