Penny Prompts – The Last Word…For Now

Standard

SPOILERS FOR THE ENTIRE SERIES OF ARMAND GAMACHE MYSTERY BOOKS BY LOUISE PENNY, EXCEPT FOR THE MOST RECENT BOOK, THE GREY WOLF.

This will be the final Penny Prompts for a bit. Louise Penny’s new Armand Gamache book came out last month, and while I typically wait for the library to get it, I caved and bought this one. I have already read it twice. I will be sharing my review but not for a few more weeks to be sure that as many people have read it that want to before I write a spoiler-riddled review. The short review:

Excellent! Read it! Now! What are you waiting for?!

I’ve included two prompts for today’s post. Both have been waiting for the right opportunity, and as this is the last for the year, I thought I’d share them both as a bonus. I should not be the only one obsessed with this book series and these characters.

The first comes from A Better Man, the 15th book in the series, and I found it especially relevant considering how the campaigns and election went in the US.

Is it true? Is it kind? Does it need to be said?”

Are there things you’ve wished you haven’t said out loud? Was it true? Kind? Did it need to be said? Would you say it again?

Think about some of those times, and write about them, or about how they made you feel after. Not everything needs to be regrettable, but think about your words and deeds, and write your thoughts down.

This quotation comes from Louise Penny’s 18th book in her Gamache series: “A World of Curiosities“.

“Such was the month of November. Unpredictable. Changeable. It could not be trusted.”

What are your thoughts on November’s trustworthiness? Its predictability? Its changebility? Where does November fall on your peaceful and happy spaces in time?
